The two directions

Deposit

Base → Arc

Base lets one CCTP message carry ten million USDC, so any amount is a single burn. Paused while we cannot deliver them.

Withdraw

Arc → Base

Arc caps a burn at 1 USDC per message — $500 out is 500 messages, which is why nobody offers it. We pack hundreds into one transaction and pay the Base gas.

What you can verify

Batcher on Arc

— burns through Circle's CCTP contracts and takes its fee on-chain, under a ceiling nobody can raise.

Circle's contracts

TokenMessengerV2 0x28b5a0e9…8cf5d, MessageTransmitterV2 0x81D40F21…4B64 — Circle's own addresses. We cannot change them.

Independent

Not affiliated with Circle or Arc. Arc mainnet has not officially launched.

Questions

Can you take my money?

No. In both directions the burn goes from your wallet into Circle's contracts, and the destination is fixed to your address the moment you sign. We can only press "deliver" — and so can anyone else.

What does the fee cover?

Delivery gas. A withdrawal becomes hundreds of messages and each one has to be submitted on Base; we pay for all of them out of the fee. The rate is read live from the contract, which caps it at 5% permanently.

Why are deposits paused?

Because we cannot deliver them right now. Minting on Arc costs Arc gas, which a depositor does not have yet — so rather than take a transfer we cannot finish, we say so. Withdrawals are unaffected.

What if you go offline halfway?

Your transfer waits, it does not fail. Circle's signatures never expire and any address may submit them, so a withdrawal is yours to finish on the rescue page, from any wallet, without us. A deposit is different: its mint happens on Arc and is paid for in Arc USDC you do not have yet, so that one waits for us.

How long does it take?

The burn is seconds, Circle usually signs within a few minutes, then delivery is one transaction. A 40 USDC withdrawal typically finishes in under ten minutes.

My wallet shows a different “ARC Mainnet”

Two chains share the name: wallet databases list Archie Chain (1243) under it, while Circle's Arc is 5042. MetaMask ships the right one. The button above switches to whatever your wallet already has for 5042 rather than overwriting it — Arc publishes no public RPC, so your wallet's own endpoint may be the only one that works.

What should I know before using this?

Arc mainnet has not officially launched and public access to it has been cut off before, once for a day and a half. A withdrawal already under way survives that. Move what you are comfortable waiting on.
